“When you recognize that there is a voice in your head that pretends to be you and never stops speaking, you are awakening out of your unconscious identification with the stream of thinking. when you notice that voice, you realize that who you are is not the voice-the thinker-but the one who is aware of it.”
Life and living only exist in the present moment.
Our untrained mind often causes us suffering when it dwells on past experiences, or future fears, clouding this moment where living actually occurs. Depression, anxiety, our beliefs about our selves and others, all stem from these unnecessary thoughts. Our mind must come to realize that it is the cause of its own unhappiness. Then whatever we experience in life is no longer overwhelming.
My name is Kenneth Andert. I have an appreciation and grounding in western oriented psychodynamics enriched with an eastern psychological and Spiritual perspective. I am supportively engaged and interactive with my clients and use an eclectic approach including mindfulness, past recollections, emotions, physical awarenesses, spiritual beliefs, and present moment occurences to encourage change and healing. Clients are often surprised that therapy can be an enjoyable experience where humor accompanies the process of transformation.
I have had an active spiritual and mindfulness practice for many years. These experiences, in conjunction with a well grounded clinical knowledge base, and my own inner work, have enriched my understanding of the nature of mind and its relationship to life and life experiences.
